Bowen's disease, one of squamous cell carcinoma in situ, typically presents as a discrete, slowly enlarging, pink to erythematous thin plaque with well-demarcated, irregular borders and overlying scale or crust. Several clinicohistopathologic variants have been illustrated to date, but there have never been reported to Bowen's disease manifesting with pedunculated tumor. Herein, we report an interesting presentation of pedunculated Bowen's disease on the right groin. In the resected tumor specimen, human papillomavirus type 68, one of the mucosal high-risk human papillomavirus, was demonstrated.

Bowen disease (BD), or intraepithelial squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), may progress to an invasive SCC. Although surgery is preferred because of the low recurrence rate, it can result in hypertrophic scarringor contracture, particularly in lesions on the hands. We report a case of BD in the first web space of the hand, which was treated with ablative fractional laser-assisted photodynamic therapy (AFXL-assisted PDT). After multiple AFXL-assisted PDT sessions, the lesion showed no clinical or pathological abnormalities. Thus, we believe that PDT can be an alternative treatment for BD occurring in the web space of the hand.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the nail apparatus is a rare phenomenon. Because of its indolent course and similar presentation to other benign conditions, correct diagnosis in the early stages is practically difficult. We here report two cases of periungual squamous cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma in situ (Bowen's disease). These cases emphasize the importance of extra vigilance and high suspicion when facing intractable atypical lesions on the fingers. Repetitive biopsy with exploratory nail plate extraction should be considered to acquire appropriate specimens, which is critical for early and correct diagnosis.

Bowen's disease is a premalignant condition, which may evolve into invasive carcinoma. Most invasive carcinomas arising from Bowen's disease show squamous differentiation, but rarely basaloid, pilar, pilosebaceous or sebaceous differentiation. We herein describe two cases of invasive carcinoma arising from Bowen's disease. First case, a 78-year-old male, presented with an erythematous plaque with ulcerated and fungating changes on his back. Biopsy specimen revealed Bowen's disease transformed into invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Second one, a 67-year-old male who had been diagnosed histologically as Bowen's disease on the right inguinal area 5 months ago, complained of enlargement and infiltration of the previous lesion. Biopsy specimen showed invasive carcinomatous change of basosquamous differentiation. Our cases represent unusual invasive changes of Bowen's disease into squamous cell carcinoma and carcinoma of basosquamous differentiation.

Bowen's disease is an intraepidermal squamous cell carcinoma, which usually presents as an erythematous, flat, slightly scaly lesion with a sharp, but irregular outlines. However, rare variants of Bowen's disease can occur such as fungating, verrucous forms or pigmented forms, and these can be misdiagnosed as other benign or malignant neoplasms. A 69-year-old woman presented with a verrucous plaque on her left malleolar area which had a peripheral light brown hue. The histopathologic features were consistent with Bowen's disease and also showed marked hyperkeratosis, acanthosis and papillomatosis. We report a case of verrucous Bowen's disease on the malleolus of a 69-year-old female patient.

It is known that Bowen's disease is a representative precancerous lesion of squamous cell carcinoma, along with actinic keratosis. Chronic sun-exposure and arsenism are main causes of Bowen's disease. Also trauma, radiation, and viral infection are associated. Up to now, it is not yet reported that burn scar can induce Bowen's disease. We report an unusual case of Bowen s disease, which arose in an old burn scar.

Not legally, arsenic has been used for various medical purposes. Chronic exposure to arsenic can induce different kinds of cutaneous diseases, including arsenic keratosis, Bowen's disease, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and other pigment disorders. Also, arsenic induces internal malignancies, including tumors of the pulmonary and urogenital systems. To prevent these malignancies, the use of arsenics should be strictly prohibited. We describe a 72-year-old man who developed SCC in situ and BCC after chronic exposure to arsenics.
