1.Continue to study on influences of Morinda citrifolia L. Rubiaceae fruits on experimental animals immuno-suppressed by radiation
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;347(3):16-19
Study on the extract of Morinda citrifolia (MC) fruit with the ratio of 5:1 (1g extract was prepared from 5g of dried MC fruit) in order to determine the effects of extract on radiation-induced immunosuppressive mice. The results showed that: oral administration of this extract with daily dose of 6 g/kg in 9 consecutive days (3 days before and 6 days during receiving gamma ray) has increased the relative weight of spleen and thymus, total leukocyte count, number of lymphocytes, natural killers and monocytes, rate of immune rosette forming cells, hemolytic halo, and the skin test with OA antigen, compared with the mice group that has been only received gamma ray without drug

2.Application of HPLC in quantity of plasma rifampicin in patient taking simultaneously rifampicin - isoniazid - pyrazinamide
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;347(3):32-34
A HPLC method has been used to quantify plasma rifampicin and isoniazid and pyrazinamide simultaneously. Extraction of rifampicin in plasma samples was done as follows: mix 1ml of plasma containing rifampicin and 1.5 ml acetonitril on a vortex mixer for 1 minute prior to centrifugation at 3500 rpm for 30 minutes. The organic layer was filtered through 0.45m filter membrane and then 30l of this solution was injected into the HPLC system. The chromatographic conditions were as follows: in stationary phase: column: Apollo Alltech RP18 (250 x 4.6 mm; 5 m); in mobile phase: methanol - phosphate buffet solution containing 0.02M potassium dihydrogen phosphate adjusted to pH 4.5 by adding phosphoric acid (65: 35); Flow rate: 1.0 ml/min and UV detector: 254 nm

3.Particular situattion when using Microsoft-Excel in biological statistic
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;354(10):3-4
The way of counting average number and standard error or standard deviation by normal count method on all three lots showed the same results like as Microsoft - Excel. Application of Summary Statistics in Descriptive Statistics showed average value, standard error, standard deviation and many other results in which there are sample variance. If two variances of two samples are the same, T proof method is used. Like this, use of Microsoft Excel showed concrete numeric value of p

4.Determination of two species “c? lu?i r?n” (Hedyotis corymbosa (L)) and “Lu?i r?n hoa tr?ng” (Hedyotis diffusa willd) in Vietnam
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;354(10):5-7
“Cỏ lưỡi rắn” (Hedyotis corymbosa (L.) and “lưỡi rắn hoa trắng” or “bạch hoa xà thiệt thảo” (Hedyotis diffusa Willd) are two different species. Both of them grow wildly in Viet nam. According to Viet nam traditional medicine, the species are used to make drug. They have
antipyretic, detoxication effects, used in the treatment of inflammation and lesions induced by venomous bitten. Recently, the researchers determined active element in two species as ursolic acid, oleanolic acid and geniprosidic acid. These active ingredients have effect of tumor inhibition (in vivo and in vitro). In China, Hedyotis diffusa Willd was used to treat cancer

5.Study on the thionylation to synthesize thiosalicylanilide derrivatives with antifungal and antibacterial activities
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;354(10):8-12
Condensation of salicylic acid with anilines made salicylanilid derivatives. From salicylanilids, 3-phenyl-2H-1, 3-benzoxazin-2, 4(3H)-dion derivatives were created by same circle reaction. Thionylation reaction 3-phenyl-2H-1, 3-benzoxazin-2,4(3H)-dion in dioxan solvent had good result. Products of thionylation created thiosalicylanilides after circle opened hydrolysis. Clearness of thiosalicylanilides was determined by thin layer chromatography and their structure was determined by UV, IR.H1 MNR. Antibacterial effect of synthetic products, especially Streptococcus feacalis E.coli was higher than control substance as salicylanilid. Antifungal effect of Bromo and clorothiosalicylanilide derivatives was stronger than other derivatives

6.Homeopathy therapy
Pharmaceutical Journal 2000;269(12):22-22
A very low dose of treatment called homeopathy therapy. The scientific basis of applying the homeopathy therapy is symptoms of toxic dose of drug. For example, strychos at toxic dose induces gastro intestinal irritation, nervous system stimulation; Iris versicolor induces joint pain, gastrointestinal irritation and migraine. The homeopathy therapy had been most applied in Europe in 18th century

7.Study on stability of hormones in pig thyroid powder dried by different methods
Pharmaceutical Journal 2000;269(12):23-25
This study relates to stability of the hormones in the thyroid powder of the pig, dried by lyophilizating; vacuum drying at the temperature of 50oC, and by normal drying at the temperature 70oC. Using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to measure thyroid hormone concentration in the powder of thyroid before and after release test at the temperature of 40±2oC and the relative humidity of 75±5% for 3 months. The result is: The hormone of the thyroid powder, dried at 70oC, have got required stability and it is less than the one of the thyroid powder dried by lyophilizating or vacuum drying.

8.Pilot preparation of pharmaceutical cellulose from the rice straw
Pharmaceutical Journal 2001;299(3):15-17
Cellulose was prepared successfully from rice straw by alkali and acid method and bleached by hydrogen peroxide. The effects of percentages of sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide and bleaching method on quality of the cellulose were studied. The product meets requirements of the pharmaceutical grade and may be applied for producing tablets.

10.Study on preparing cellulose powder as excipient of tablets
Pharmaceutical Journal 2000;295(11):12-14
Bagasse, an abundant available waste has high -cellulose content (more than 38%) and less than 1.5% as content. In Vietnam, bagasse from refinery at VietTri, VanDiem has cellilose content more than 48%. Powdered cellulose, which is used as a tablet diluent, can be prepared from bagasse. Product is a white powder and loses less than 5.7% of its weight when dried. The supernatant liquid of a 10% dispersion in water has a pH of 7.02.
