1.Military Psychiatry and Deployments:Post-traumatic Stress Disorders in Bundeswehr Soldiers
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2007;32(5):459-463
In the 15 years since the end of the Cold War, the extended task spectrum of the Bundeswehr has included missions abroad. These entail special psychological stress for soldiers. Some develop unspecific stress symptoms, while others develop post-traumatic stress disorders as a result of their exposure to stress. The Bundeswehr has created a medical and psychological stress concept to organize the prevention of stress and trauma. In its military hospitals (particularly in Hamburg), the Bundeswehr has established special facilities for trauma therapy, which will be presented and described in the following article.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2007;32(1):1-4
Objective To show the capability of NF-κB expression in cochlea. Methods Kanamycin (KA) was subcutaneously injected twice daily for 3 and 7 days with an eight hours interval between two injections, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was injected into the tympanic cavity of mice. Equal amount of saline was injected for 7 days as control. Frozen sections of all mice cochleae were examined immmunohistochemichally with rabbit polyclonal NF-κB p50. Expression of NF-κB p50 immunoreactivity of mouse cochleae is identified as showed as brown reaction products characteristic of DAB immunohistochemistry. Results Immnoreactivity NF-κB p50 in mouse cochlea was localized in the organ of Corti, spiral limbus, tectorial membrane, the vascular stria, spiral ligament, spiral ganglion and nerve fibers. The immunoreaction could be observed in all spirals throughout the cochlea. Stronger staining was visible in spiral ligament, tectorial membrane, spiral prominence, spiral ganglion and nerve fibers, and the organ of Corti. The immunoreaction in the vascular stria was weaker than that in the structures mentioned above. The immunoreaction in the organ of Corti was observed in inner hair cells (IHC) and outer hair cells (OHC), inner and outer pillar cells, Deiter's cells, and Boettcher's cells. The immunoreaction was weaker in inner sulcus cells, Hensen's cells and Claudius'cells. The stronger immunoreaction was observed in nucleus of spiral ganglion cells. The nucleus of IHC and OHC remained unstained. Conclusion The injection of LPS/KA can promote NF-κB p50 expression to induce an acute reaction in mouse cochlea.
3.HISTOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF PERFORATING EYE INJURIES
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(06):-
Based on the histopathological observation of the perforated eyes in 74 cases, it is suggested that, according to the severity of the trauma, perforating eye injuries may be classified into 3 degrees. Those having enucleation done within 1 week after injury were all severe cases; none of them developed sympathetic ophthalmia. The eyes with less and moderate degree of injuries were enucleated mainly duo to secondary complications. Among the eyeballs examinedlater than 2 weeks after injury, intraocular fibropla-sia was found in 49 cases (92%), ciliary membranes in 34 cases (64%), epiretinal membranes in 23 cases (43%), and retinal detachment in 47 cases (89%). Contractive tissues were found in 19 cases with retinal detachment. Cellular proliferation was originated from the wound as well as the intraocular cell elements such as the ciliary epithelium. The following factors might stimulate the proliferation, e.g. incarceration of tissue in the wound, failing of the epithelium to cover the inner surface of the wound, inflammation and intraocular hemorrhage. Therefore, it is important to close the wound as early as possible and to remove blood and inflamed tissue with vitrectomy within 2 weeks after injury.
4.EVALUATION OF WOUNDS INFLICTED BY MODERN WEAPONS IN THE VIEW OF WOUND BALLISTICS
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(06):-
On the basis of experimental results and clinical observations, the mechanism of injury and clinical features of wounds inflicted by modern weapons are evaluated from the view-point of wound ballistics. It is emphasized that, in order to accurately assess the injury, to formulate an appropriate treatment regime, and to prevent misdiagnosis, it is essential to learn the fundamental principles of wound ballis tics.
5.A STUDY ON THE CHARACTERISTICS AND NORMAL VALUES OF VISUALLY EVOKED POTENTIALS IN FLYING CADETS
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(06):-
In order to apply the brain evoked potential (BEP) in neurological examinations and medical evaluations of flying crew (cadets), we recorded and analysed visually evoked potential (VEP) of 195 normal flying, cadets of 17-19 years of age. This report concerns mainly the basic wave form, its characteristics as well as latent period and peak-to-peak values. The results showed that chief wave group and latent period were more stable. There were no notable difference in latent periods and amplitudes between two hemispheres except P2-N2. When there was mental strain, latent period was markedly shortened. There was no notable difference in the amplitudes. While the fronto-occipital VEP phase showed difference. The mean values of latent period of P1,N1, P2, N2, P, were 90.66?23.14,125.25?28.06,184.59?32.01, 264.20?50.28,304.30?48.40 respectively, and those of peak-to-peak of N1-P2, P2-N2, N2-P3 were 10.28?4.60, 9.16?4.10, 3.05?2.26 respectively. The characteristics of VEP, the reliability of its normal values, and preliminary opinion on the applica tion of evoked potentials in aerospace medicine were discussed.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
The curative effect on 124 cases with multi drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis from January 1996 to June 1999 was reported. All the cases, with an average history of 5.84 years, were recurrent ones. They included 78 cases of infultative pulmonary tuberculosis,46 cases of chronic fibrocavitative pulmonary tuberculosis. Sputum of all the cases was cultured for Mycobacterium hominis tuberculosis with Kuang`s culture medium and drug susceptibility test was done. As a result, the drug resistant rate to 2 drugs, 3 drugs,4 drugs, 5 drugs and more were 20.16%,25.0%,20.9%,33.72% respectively. The authors added 1~2 kinds of anti TB drugs never used before in each case to KOP (Kanamycin, Ofloxacin, Sodium Aminosalicylate),with a mean 3.3 months treating course. The sputum negative conversion rate was 66.9%,foci absorption rate was 72.6%, cavity close up 50.0% . There wasn′t any serious adverse effect encounted. It suggest that KOP synergetic bacteriocidal to Mycobacterium tuberculosis either inside or outside cells, with fewer side effect, is a good regimen for multi drug tuberculosis treatment.
7.PRELIMINARY STUDY TO THE PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH OF HL-60 CELL AND BGS 180 CELL INDUCED BY VP-16
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
Programmed cell death(PCD)of human leukemic HL 60 cell and human poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma cell BGS 180 induced by efoposid(VP 16) was preliminarily observed comparatively in the same experimental condition through rate of cell death, DNA agarose gels electrophoresis and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(TdT) mediated biotin 11 dUTP nickend labeling(TUNEL).It was found that apoptosis is the main pattern of HL 60 cell death induced by low does VP 16 in a short time, and it can be suppressed when protein kinase C(PKC) is activated. The main pattern of BGS 180 cell death induced by VP 16 is necrosis, and PCK activation does not affect its necrosis rate. Extracellular Ca 2+ reduction do not affect BGS 180 and HL 60 cell death rate. The mechanism of VP 16 action on BGS 180 and HL 60 cell is different, apoptosis is not the main pattern of cell BGS 180 death induced by VP 16.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
Rat C6 glioma cells were cultured in vitro, and 10?L C6 cell suspension containing 10g/L agarose and 1?10 6 C6 cells was injected into the right caudate nucleus of rat brains to establish a rat brain tumor model by directional implantation method.General observation and MRI scan were conducted after implantation.Trans aorta paraformaldehyde perfusion for 5 group rats having received implantation was carried out at 10,15,20,25,days and before natural death. The tumor containing samples were prepared histologically by hematoxylin and eosin stains.MRI scan showed that intracerebral growth occurred in 50 implanted rats, with a distant metastasis of 4%.The results indicated that tumor globular intracerebral growth occurred and extracranial growth extension was scarce after implantation. The model was very stable and the implanted rat survival duration is easily determined. The experiment lays the foundation for chemotherapy, radiotherapy and gene therapy of the glioma.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
Whole blood samples were collected from 316 Uigur subjects inhabiting Kashi City, Sinkiang Uigur Autonomous Region, and their genomic DNA was extracted using QIAgen Blood Kit. DNA fragment spanning CCR5?32 and CCR5m303 mutation points were amplified by PCR and genotyped by directed electrophoresis and RFLP with HinCII respectively. In all 316 samples only 22 heterozygotes of CCR5?32 were found, in accordance with Hardy Weinberg equilirium. No CCR5m303 mutation was found. No difference existed between male and female individuals. The frequency of CCR5?32 in Uigur population is 3.48%, similar to Medi Asia ethnic groups (higher than that of Chinese Han people and lower than that of Caucasian people), i.e, in continuity regarding district distribution. Due to its slow down effect on clinical course of AIDS , high frequency of CCR5?32 is highly significant in prevention and treatment of AIDS in Uigur population.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
Tea polyphenols were tried to induce apoptosis of human cultured hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG Ⅱ. MTT assay, DNA agarose gel electrophoresis, transmission electron microscopy , fluorescence decoration and DNA end labeling method (Tunel) were used to identify apoptosis. Having been treated by tea polyphenols in 250?g/ml , HepG Ⅱcell apoptosis was induced. The induction of apoptosis was the dose dependent. Chromatin condensation, apoptotic body formation, fluorescence of yellow green and pellet were observed. Agarose gel electrophoresis analysis revealed DNA cleavages( DNA ladder). The results indicated that tea polyphenole could induce apoptosis of cultured human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG Ⅱ. It suggested that tea polyphenols could be used to treat human liver carcinoma.
