Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(01):-
This paper reports 17 cases of hypomagnesemic convulsiens of the newhorn that were admitted from Se-Ptember 1981 to January 1983. Only 2 patients were breast-fed.Symptoms and signs of hypomagnesemia are indistinguishable from these of hypocalcemia unless the serum magne-sium is determ ined. Serum magnes iumlevels had been determined in 50 normal children. The average value-2 standard deviation=2.17-2?0.34=1.49mEq/L.We defined hypomagnesemia as the serum magnesium lcvels below 1.48mEg/L. The serum magnesium levels of 17 patients varied from 0.65 to 1.46m Eq/L. Of 10 cases serum calcium le-vel6mg/dl.2.5%MgSO_4 was given intraveno-usly by continuous infusion in a dose of 2-4ml/kg every 12 hours. After the convulsions had been controlled a dose of 25% MgSO_4 was given intramuscul-arly in a dose of 0.4ml/kg twice daily Convulsions usually ceased after 1--4doses of MgSO_4, but the serum magne-sium levels did not rise to normal le-vels until 2-6 days. The convulsions could not be controlled by repeated ad-ministrations of calcium gluconate in 5 patients who had both hypomagnes-emja and hypocalcemia. Only after theadministiation of MgSO_4 did the serum calicum levels rise to the normal level and the convulsions cease.Electrocardjograms recorded in 7 patients all were abnormal but 1 case,so we should pay attention to the inf-luence of magnesium upon the heart.
4.The Character of Acid-Base Imbalance in Young Infant Suffering from pneumonia
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(01):-
Correlation of blood gas analysis was made in 41 cases of young infa-nts younger than 3 months of age suffering from acute broncho -pneu-monia. Correlation of PO_2 with PCO_2 HCO_3~-, pH and BE was mace accord-dingly and with each other. Among which PO_2 and PCO_2 were the main items. Altogether 15 rairs of correl-alion in all were made.PO_2 and PCO_2 are significantly negatively correlated (P

74 cases of diabetes insipidus were reported in this paper. There were polydipsia, polyuris and low specific gravity of urine in all patients. Classification was determinedas follows: pituidary 64 cases (including idiopathic 44 cases, secondary 20 cases),nephritic 8 cases and unclassified 2 cases. Intracranial tumors should be paid altentionto rule out. 12 patients responded very satisfactorily to oral administration of singlechlorpropamide. In order to avoid hypoglycemia, an initjal dose of 10 mg/kg/24hr wasrecommended.
6.The Relationship Between the Time Before Diagnosis and Clinic in Children's Acute Leukemia (An Analysis of 72 Cases)
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1992;0(05):-
Objective To search for the relationship between the time before diagnosis and clinic in children'sacute Leukemia. Design Clinical cases analysis. Patients 72 Child patients with acute leukemia, 39 male and 33 female. The range of age is from6 months to 15 years old. First treated patients are 44 and the second treated patients are 28. Rebults and Conclusions The average time before diagnosis (19. 14wk) in children's acute leukemiaof10 years old group(6.94wk), The diagnosis time of infiltration symptom(10.30wk) is the longest and hemorrhage symptem isthe shortest among all the symptom of first break out. The time before diagnosis have not significantdifference among all the types of ALL. The time before diagnosis of ANLL (5.24wk) is shorter thanthat of ALL (7.74wk).
