Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is one of the microvascular complications of diabetes. traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) attributed it to theXiaoke disease andBizheng, with the views ofLuo disease and its TCM patterns differentiation. Based on the treatment for deficiency,Tongluo drugs were added and they made good curative effect. Recently the TCM researches on it have been deepened in the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, experimental and clinical research, which showed some new under standings. Thus, this paper summarized the relevant researches.
2.Doctor-patient communication skills training on the Chinese medicine graduate students in Gynecology department

3.On the phenomenon of mistranslation in translation of traditional Chinese medicine into English

4.Outpatient traditional Chinese medicine counseling:a retrospective analysis of 785 cases

Objective To improve the skills of pharmacists in pharmaceutical care and to provide patients with better individualized pharmaceutical care.Methods A total of 785 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) counseling outpatient cases, consultation modes, objectives, consulting drugs, consulting problems were analyzed.Results Office counseling was the dominant method for TCM counseling (85.10%), followed by telephone counseling (14.90%). Of all the counselings, patients and their relatives accounted for 80.63%, where females was 60.25% and males 39.75%; and patients over 40 years of age accounted for 81.91%. Of all the pharmacy counseling, heart system disorder were the major (14.79%), followed by drugs for Qi, blood and body fluid disorder (12.61%); the contents of counseling were diversity, which included dosage and administration amounts (29.04%), experience for drug use (14.14%), drug interactions (10.39%) and adverse reactions (9.55%). Conclusion TCM counseling could offer an effective platform of communication between pharmacists and patients, improve patients' medication compliance, and ensure patients' safe, rational, economical and effective.
5.Effect of the kidney-nourishing therapy on aromatase inhibitor-associated bone loss:a meta-analysis

Objective The study systematically reviewed the therapeutic effect of the Kidney-Nourishing therapy on aromatase inhibitor-associated bone loss (AIBL).Methods The databases CNKI, CBM, VIP, Medline and the Cochrane Library were searched. Cochrane collaboration's tool for assessing risk of bias was adopted to assess the quality of trials. The Revman 5.3 software was used for the analysis on the outcome index such as bone minernal density and the level of serum estradiol.Results Meta-analysis was conducted on 11 randomly controlled clinical trials. All 11 studies were concducted in China, and the quality of researches was low. Meta-analysis revealed that the decrement of bone mineral density in the group receiving kidney-nourishing herbs was significantly smaller than that in the control group(P<0.001), theMD was -0.070, 95%CI was (-0.087, -0.053), but there was no significant difference between two groups in the outcome of the serum estradiol level (P=0.159), theMD was -2.622, 95%CIwas(-6.273, 1.030).Conclusion Kidney- Nourishing herbs can delay the process of aromatase inhibitor-associated bone loss, but may not influence the serum estrogen level.
6.Determination of albiflorin in the Jinsha-Paishi infusion by HPLC

Objective To establish HPLC assaying methods for the determination of albiflorin in the Jinsha-Paishi infusion, and to determine the content of albiflorin of different batches ofJinsha-Paishiinfusion. Methods The chromatographic conditions were with the column of C18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5μm), mobile phase of methyl alcohol-aqua (25:75,V/V), flow rate of 1.0 ml/min, and determined at wave length of 230 nm in room temperature. A total of 3 different batches of albiflorin were determined.Results In the range of 2.5-200μg, the distribution of paeoniflorin was linear (r=0.999 8), and theRSD of precision, stability and repeatability were less than 2%. The average recovery was 98.05%, andRSD was 1.65%. The contents of albiflorin in each batch were 0.080, 0.083, 0.077 mg/g.Conclusion The assaying method of HPLC is convenient, accurate and reliable to determinate the content of albiflrin in theJinsha-Paishi infusion. And the results showed that there was no difference of content of albiflorin among the different batches ofJinsha-Paishi infusion.
7.Protection of ursolic acid on global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

Objective To investigate the protective effects of ursolic acid (UA) on global cerebral ischemic-reperfusion injury in rats.MethodsThe experimental rats were divided into the sham operation group, the model group, the UA low, medium and high dose groups, 20 in each group. Except the rats in the sham operation group, the rats in other groups were dealed by four arteries occlusion to made global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model. The rats in the UA low, medium, high dose groups were given UA as 40, 80, 120 mg/kg immediately after the occlusion line was inserted; the rats in the sham operation group and the model group were given equal-volume saline. And 6 hours later, the recovery time of righting reflex and electrical activity of brain were recorded, water content of the brain were evaluated, and the activity of LDH, MDA, SOD, CAT in brain tissue were determined; the inflammatory cytokines content of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 were determined by ELISA. Results Compared with the model group, the recovery time of righting reflex (20.6 ± 7.2 min, 18.2 ± 6.9 min vs. 27.3 ± 8.8 min) and electrical activity of brain (16.2 ± 5.8 min, 14.9 ± 5.6 min vs.24.1 ± 7.2 min) of the UA medium and high dose groups were shortened (P<0.05 orP<0.01); the water content were significantly decreased (79.0% ± 0.7%, 78.6% ± 0.5%vs. 80.7% ± 0.9%;P<0.05 orP<0.01); the activity of SOD (158.5 ± 8.4 U/mg, 165.4 ± 9.0 U/mgvs. 143.0 ± 7.1 U/mg), CAT (3.3 ± 1.4 U/mg, 3.9 ± 1.5 U/mgvs. 2.4 ± 0.9 U/mg) in brain tissue of the UA medium and the high dose groups were significantly improved; the content of LDH (16.0 ± 2.6 mmol/g, 18.4 ± 2.8 mmol/gvs. 12.4 ± 1.9 mmol/g) were significantly increased; the content of MDA (18.6 ± 2.8μmol/g, 17.2 ± 2.4μmol/gvs. 24.9 ± 3.4μmol/g), TNF-α (45.8 ± 6.3 nmol/L, 40.1 ± 5.6 nmol/Lvs. 56.3 ± 7.2 nmol/L), IL-6 (187.2 ± 18.5 nmol/L, 136.8 ± 15.7 nmol/Lvs. 238.4 ± 22.9 nmol/L) were significantly decreased, and the content of IL-1β in UA 120 mg/kg treated group was significantly decreased (713.6 ± 56.3 nmol/L vs. 915.7 ± 70.5 nmol/L;P<0.05 orP<0.01).Conclusion UA can effectively promote righting reflex and EEG recovery, reduce brain water content, which perhaps related with its pharmacological effects of enhanceing the activity of antioxidant enzymes, lower oxidative stress, and inhibit inflammation.
8.Metabonomics study on the intervention of Xiaoyao powder on the rates with model of liver depression and spleen deficiency patterns and liver disease

Objective To discuss the common nature of live depression and spleen qi deficiency and liver disease and the changes after the intervention ofXiaoyaopower by the metabonomics method. Methods A total of 40 rats were randomly devided into the normal control group, the liver depression and spleen qi deficiency model group, the liver depression and spleen qi deficiency treatment group, the liver disease group, the liver disease treatment group, 8 in each group. The liver depression and spleen qi deficiency model rat was established by tail-clamping infuriation and Senna gavage method, and the liver disease model rat was established by the CCl4-induced liver injury method. The rats of the liver depression and spleen qi deficiency treatment group and the liver disease treatment group were given 2 g/mlXiaoyao powder, and other groups were given the equal-volume saline. All the treatment lasted 28 days. Twelve hours after the last administration, rat metabolite profiling and contents in the serum were detected by GC-MS, the change of rat liver tissue was observed through HE staining.Results The rats of liver depression and spleen deficiency pattern and liver disease model group appeared liver cell nuclei atrophy, dissolution, degeneration necrosis and lymphocyte infiltration, and at the same time the contents of Glycine, Butanediodic acid, Propanoic acid, Methionine, Glutamine, Phenylalanine in serum were all higher than the normal control group (P<0.05). AndXiaoyao powder could reduce the content of the contents of Glycine, Butanediodic acid, Propanoic acid, Methionine,Glutamine, Phenylalanine in serum (P<0.05).ConclusionXiaoyao powder may play the role of protecting liver by the regulation of one carbon unit, sulfur containing amino acids, aromatic amino acids and amino acid of special metabolism and three tricarboxylic acid cycle.
9.Clinical observation of Yubaisang-Zhikefang decoction on treating 128 patients withchronic bronchitis

Objective To observe effects of theYubaisang-Zhikefangdecoction on chronic bronchitis.MethodsA total of 128 patients were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was given the conventional therapy, and the treatment group was added theYubaisang-Zhikefang decoction based on the conventional therapy.ResultsThe total effective rate of treatment group was significantly better than the control group (92.58%vs. 79.37%;χ2=4.434,P=0.035). The treatment group significantly improved the symptoms of time of cough disappearance(3.28 ± 1.21 d vs. 5.77 ± 1.45 d;t=10.562,P<0.05), time of asthma stop (8.02 ± 3.29d vs. 10.83 ± 7.17 d;t=2.864,P<0.05), time of sputum disappearance (3.27 ± 1.18d vs. 5.18 ± 1.16 d;t=9.232,P<0.05), time of moist sounds disappearance(4.53 ± 1.27 vs. 7.96 ± 1.45 d;t=14.249, P<0.05). And the treatment group significantly improved the results of blood tests and lung imaging, like the WBC (5.9×109/L ± 2.7×109/L vs. 8.1×109/L ± 2.6×109/L;t=4.693,P<0.05), N% (63.3% ± 6.1% vs. 69.2% ± 6.5%;t=-4.68,P<0.05), CRP (14.5 ± 5.9 mg/L vs. 18.4 ± 4.8 mg/L;t=5.297,P<0.05).ConclusionThe integrated treatment ofYubaisang-Zhikefangdecoction plus convertional the rapy showed good effects on the patients with chronic bronchitis.
10.Effect of electroacupuncture combined with acupoint injection of deer melon polypeptide on bone morphogenetic protein and rheumatoid factor in rheumatoid arthritis

ObjectiveTo detect the effect of electroacupuncture combined with acupoint injection of deer melon polypeptide on the bone morpho-genetic protein synovial, BMPs and serum rheumatoid factor IgA-RF, IgM-RF.MethodsA total of 246 patients with Rheumatoid arthritis were divided randomly into control group and combined treatment group, 123 patients in each group. The control group received the treatment of electro-acupuncture, drug and Ultrashort wave therapy, and the combined treatment group continue to receive acupoint injection of deer melon polypeptide after 30 minutes when the treatment of control group was completed. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The expression of BMPs, MMP-1 and the ESR, serum rheumatoid factor IgA-RF, IgM-RF were detected. The morning stiffness time, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were recorded for outcome assessment.ResultsCompared with control group after treatment, the positive expression rates of ESR (8.79 ±1.61 mm/hvs.12.41 ± 2.57 mm/h,t=3.654), IgM-RF (22.38% ± 5.45%vs.39.57% ± 6.18%,t=2.365), IgA RF (32.84% ± 6.57%vs.49.84% ± 4.20%,t=2.574) in the combined treatment group significantly decreased. Compared with the control group, the expression of BMPs (15.43 ± 2.94vs.7.22 ± 1.52,t=3.914) in the combined treatment group significantly increased, while MMP-1 (8.01% ± 1.54%vs. 15.34% ± 2.47%,t=2.015) in the combined treatment group significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared with control group, the outcomes VAS (3.37 ± 0.35 vs.5.75 ± 0.39, t=3.251), WOMAC (22.36 ± 3.49vs.30.50 ± 4.11,t=4.021), and morning stiffness (34.32 ± 5.57 minvs. 49.84 ± 4.20 min,t=3.914) in the combined treatment group significantly decreased (P<0.05). The total effect rate (82.11%vs. 71.55%,χ2=12.764) of combined treatment group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture combined with acupoint injection of deer and melon peptide can improve effect rate.
