3.The usefulness of thin-section rapid infusion CT for detection of cerebral aneurysm.
Jong Min KIM ; So Sun KIM ; Jin Do HUH
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1993;29(6):1116-1120
With 2mm-thick CT scanning during the rapid infusion of contrast material(TICT), cerebral aneurysms arising from the circle of Willis and adjacent vessels can be directly visualized. Twenty-five patients who had cerebral aneurysm confirmed by surgery were examined with TIGT and digital subtraction angiography. The authors examined TIGT prospectively to assess the detection rate of the cerebal aneurysms and to evaluate the clinical usefulness of TIGT. The detection rates of aneurysms by TIGT and digital subtraction angiography were 68% and 84%, respectively. TIGT is a rapid, safe and reliable method in the evaluation of patients with suspected cerebral aneurysm, permitting direct visualization of the aneurysm.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1995;33(6):865-868
Arteriovenous mafformation(AVM) of female pelvic organ is a rare disease of unknown cause. The authors' report a case of pelvic AVM which was incidentally found during US examination of the patient with choriocarcinoma after chemotherapy. The real-time sonography revealed several cystic lesions around the uterus with adjacent dilated tortuous vessels. The color Doppler sonography depicted abundant blood flow mixed with red and blue colors within the cystic lesions and rapid turbulent systolic and diastolic flows. CT showed well-enhancing round vascular lesions with elongated vessels in the pelvis, and MRI depicted signal-void cystic lesions on both T1 and T2 weighted images with small portions of high intensity within the lesions on T2 weighted image. The angiography revealed pelvic AVM fed by tortuous uterine and vaginal arteries with a dilated draining vein

6.Significance of 203Hg Neohydrin Renal Scanning in Diagnosis of Renal Diseases.
Jong Hae HUH ; Jong Byung YOON
Korean Journal of Urology 1977;18(2):103-110
203Hg neohydrin renal scanning was done in 32 cases of various renal diseases to evaluate its diagnostic significance by comparing with I.V.P. and with the weight of renal parenchyme remained in post-nephrectomized specimens. 1. The incidence depicting warm area on renal scanning was higher than that of excretory findings on I.V.P.; approximately one third of non-visualizing kidneys on pyelogram showed positive renal images by renal scanning. 2. The size of warm area on renal scanning closely correlated with the weight of parenchyme remained in diseased kidney. 3. The technique of renal scanning was more simple and less hazardous than that of I.V.P. 4. Renal scanning would be so valuable in the diagnosis of renal diseases, particularly for advanced lesions and that the combination of renal scanning and I.V.P. was desirable

Korean Journal of Perinatology 1999;10(2):217-221
Transvaginal cervical cerclage for the prevention of pregnancy loss in patients with cervical incompetence is well accepted. However, there is a small subject of patients with incompetence of cervix, congenital or surgical shortening of the cervix, previously failed transvaginal cerclage and deep cervical damage or tears in the fornices. We experienced a case of the transabdominal cervical cerclage. 'Ihe patient had a past history of deep cervical laceration due to vaginal delivery. Therefore, we present here a surgical technique of transabdominal cerdage and report it with brief review of literatures.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(10):1810-1815
Although intraocular involvement in Hodgkin's disease is infrequent, there were reported iridocyclitis, exudative retinal detatchment, retinal hemorrhage, necrotizing retinitis, anterior and posterior uveitis, perivascular chorioretinitis. We report a 61 years old male patient with Hodgkin's disease who developed retinal lesion with decreased visual acuity in his right eye during a period of quiscence in his disease, 10 months since diagnosed. On first ophthalmic examination, best corrected vision of right eye was 0.6 and 1.0 on left eye. Fundus examination of the left eye was normal; however, the right eye revealed cotton wool patches, retinal edema, and intraretinal hemorrhage along the superior temporal venules. Fluorescein angiography showed blockage of choroidal flush in early phase and focal area of hyper fluorescence with perivascular leakage of dye in late phase. The results of TORCH test were negative, and the patient didn't have hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and bleeding tendency. Therefore we this case presumed perivascular retinitis associated with Hodgkin's disease.

10.Chronological observation on intestinal histopathology and intraepithelial lymphocytes in the intestine of rats infected with Metagonimus yokogawai.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1994;32(4):215-221
The relationship between the intestinal histopathology and number and position of intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) was observed chronologically in the small intestine of rats experimentally infected with Metagonimus yokogawai. Fifteen Sprague-Dawley rats were orally infected each with 3,000 metacecariae, and 3 were kept uninfected for controls. Three rats each were sacrificed on the day 5, 10, 15, 24 and 70 post-infection (PI) and samples of the small intestine, 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm and 70 cm posterior to the pylorus were taken. The samples were processed routinely and stained with Giemsa. The intestinal histopathology was severe during the day 5-15 PI and characterized by villous atrophy, crypt hyperplasia, and decrease of villus/crypt height ratio. After the day 24 PI, the intestinal lesions showed some tendency of recovery. The number of IEL increased at the early stage of infection, but decreased thereafter to a lower level than that of controls, with progression of the pathological changes. Then, the IEL number began to increase again after the day 24 PI. In control rats, the great majority of the IEL were located at the basal region of the epithelium. During the early stage of infection, however, a considerable proportion of IEL was found to have moved to the intermediate or apical region of the epithelium. From the above results, it is suggested that the change of IEL number and position during the course of M. yokogawai infection should be closely related to the progression and recovery of the intestinal histopathology.
