Aim To study the effect of Baoxinbao film on endothelin(ET) and nitric oxide(NO) secretion in patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP).Methods 76 patients with SAP were randomly divided into two groups, with 40 cases in the baoxinbao group plastered with baoxinbao film and 36 cases in the isosorbide dinitrate group receiving isosorbide dinitrate. The levels of plasma ET and NO before and after treatment were observed. GP73-positive rate in HCC was higher than that of the normal liver tissues (χ2=73.60, P<0.05). sCLU-positive rate in HCC was also higher than that of the normal liver tissues (χ2=207.94, P<0.05). GP73 expression was positively correlated with sCLU expression in HCC (r=0.405, P<0.05). GP73 and sCLU were associated with clinicopathological features including tumor differentiation, TNM stage and vascular invasion (P<0.05); GP73 and sCLU had no correlation with the patient’s gender, age, HBsAg, cirrhosis, AFP value, portal vein thrombosis and tumor numbers (P>0.05). GP73 was associated with survival but not sCLU. Conclusion:GP73 and sCLU have higher positive rates in HCC and GP73 is positively correlated with sCLU. The expression of GP73 and sCLU are probably closely related with the invasion of HCC, which can help evaluate the prognosis of the patients.

Objective To investigate the effects of Shenfu injection ( SF,a Chinese herbal medicine preparation made of Codonopsis pilosula and Aconitum carmichaeli) on the cell apoptosis of focal cerebral ischemic-reperfusion injured rats and the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). Methods Forty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats used for producing unilateral brain ischemia reperfusion model were randomly divided into three groups:sham operation group ( Sham group),ischemia reperfusion group ( IR group),and SF Injection group (SF group).The model of focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was induced by transient occlusion of middle cerebral artery (ischemia for 2 h,and reperfusion for 3,6 h respectively).In SF group,SF ( 10 mg/kg) was intraperitoneally injected duri(n)g reperfusion.Cell apoptosis rate in brain tissue was detected by the technique of Annexin-V-PI double staining and was counted in flow cytometer.Expression of HO-1 in brain was measured by RT-PCR,while the pathological and ultra structure changes of cerebral tissue were also observed.Results Cell apoptosis rate of brain tissue were significantly higher in IR group than that in Sham group (P ＜0.01 ),while SF group had less significant changes in cell apoptosis rate, HO-1 level of brain tissue than IR group (P ＜ O.01 ).The ultra structure change of brain tissue was less in SF group than that in IR group.Conclusions During early stage of brain IR injury,SF inhibits cellular apoptosis and in turn protects the brain from injury which is attributed to the increase in HO-1 expression induced by SF.

Objective To compare the effects of fluvastatin and valsartan on the inflammatory cytokines in the early stage of type 2 diabetic nephropathy and their protective effects on to diabetic nephropathy. Methods Ninety patients with early stage of type 2 diabetic nephropathy were divided into three groups, 30 patients receiving routine hypoglycemic agents (DN1) as control,30 patients receiving routine hypoglycemic agents plus valsartan (DN2) and the other 30 receiving routine hypoglycemic agents plus fluvastatin (DN3). Blood glucose, blood lipid,serum creatinine and C reactive protein(CRP),24-hour urine protein,urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) and several inflammatory cytokine were measured before and after treatment. Objective To study the changes of serum endotheline(ET),D-dimer and fibrinogen(Fbg) in infants with pneumonia complicated with heart failure(HF) and explore the changes of blood coagulation,fibrinolysis,and endothelial cell function.Methods Eighty patients with infant pneumonia complicated with HF and 20 controls were studied.Serum ET,D-dimer,Fbg,activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT),prothrombin time(PT) and thrombin time(TT) were measured.Results ET,D-dimer,Fbg,APTT in every group had differences.With the disease deteriorating,the values of ET,D-dimer,Fbg increased,but the values of APTT decresed gradually.There were positive relations between ET and D-dimer(r=0.42 P

Background Eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA)function as the critical lipid mediators involved in several biological events in human body and play important role in suppressing the genesis of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),migration and proliferation of vascular endothelial cells.Many ocular diseases were proved to be associated with neovascularization.Objecfive The purpose of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of EPA on the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) indueed by VEGF. Methods HUVEC strain was cultured and passaged,and difierent concentrations of EPA were added to the medium with and without VEGF.The cultured cells were identified by antiofactor Ⅷ polyclonal antibody.The suppressing role of different concentrations of EPA on the proliferation of VEGF-induced or-uninduced HUVEC was assessed by MTT method.The influence of difierent concentrations of EPA on the cellular cycle of VEGF-induced HUVEC was assayed using flow eytometry.The expression of Flk-1,a receptor of VEGF,in the HUVEC Was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results Cultured HUVEC showed the ftlsiform in shape and presented with the cobblestone-like arrangement with the positive response for Ⅷ factor-related antigen.Various concentrations of EPA showed obviously inhibitory effect on VEGF-induced or-unindueed HUVEC at a dose-dependent manner (F=23.072.P=0.000).The inhibitory ability of EPA on VEGF-induced HUVEC was stronger than VEGF-uninduced HUVEC(F=41.417,P=0.000).In 24,48 and 72 hours,the action of EPA on the proliferation of HUVEC was gradually enhanced with the prolong of time(F=1.495,P=0.236).Cell cycle analysis indicated that EPA arrested VEGF-induced HUVEC in G0/G1 phase.The ratio of HUVEC in G0/G1 phase in EPA group was(75.83±1.56)%,and that in control groups was(68.62±1.44)%,showing a significant difference between them(t=-5.88,P=0.00),and no apoptosis of HUVEC was found in both groups.Flk-1 was strongly expressed in the cellular nucleus and cytoplasm in control group.However,the positive expressing intensity of Flk-1 in the HUVEC weakened,and the positive cell number was evidently less in EPA group. Conclusion EPA can inhibit the proliferation of VEGF induced HUVEC through arresting the synthesis of DNA of HUVEC and downregulate the expression of Flk-1 in HUVEC.These results suggest that EPA might exert an antiangiogenic effect.

Background Image clarity during near work is influenced by several factors,such as accommodative lag,pupil size and monochromatic aberrations.Since image clarity during extended reading at near distance has been cited as a possible inducement of myopia in childhood and a possible difference between myopic and emmetropic people throughout life,it is important to examine these factors in myopic and emmetropic myopic juvenile during reading at near distance. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships among wavefront aberrations,accommodative response and pupil size in early onset and progressive myopes eyes under the different reading status and explore the possible mechanism of the development of myopia as well. Methods Fiflyseven subjects aged from 12 to 16 years were enrolled and grouped as emmetropes,the onset of myopes and progressive myopes.Reading material were Chinese novels presented by rapid serial visual presentation at a distance of 25 cm. Accommodative response and pupil size were recorded by a Grand Seiko WV-500 autorefractor.The Image J software was used to calculate the pupil diameter.Wavefront aberrations were then measured with a WASCA wavefront analyzer. Results Aberrations and accommodative response showed large inter-subjeet variability.With accommodative stimulus of 4 diopter,the accommodative lag in the early-onset of myopes group and progressive myopes group were ( 1.72 ±0. 53) D and ( 1.74 ±0. 44) D, showing larger value in comparison with ( 0. 96 ±0. 55) D of emmetropes group( t＝4.25 ,t=4.47 ,P<0. 001). However,there were no significant differences in accommodative lag between the early-onset of myopes group and progressive myopes group( t = 0. 18, P>0. 05). The mean value of pupil diameter, total RMS value, high-order RMS value, spherical aberration and coma were all significantly reduced with the stimulus varied from 0 D to 4 D( P<0. 01). However,none of the pupil sizs,total RMS value,high-order RMS value,spherical aberration and coma had significant difference among different refractive groups( P>0. 05). Conclusion The early-onset of myopes and progressive myopes had larger accommodative lag. The lower sensitivity to defocus at near reading distance,inducing the larger accommodative lag and hyperopic defocus may be linked to the developing myopia.

Objective To evaluate the clinical application value of modified CURB-65 score for assessing severity of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in emergency patients.Methods During the period from May 2011 to May 2012,198 emergency patients with CAP enrolled in this study were evaluated by CURB-65 score and modified CURB-65 score,respectively.Based on the severity of CAP,patients were divided into mild pneumonia group (Group A,n =107) and severe pneumonia group (Group B,n =91).The clinical status and biomarkers (the white blood cell count,procalcitonin,pneumonia severity index,hospitalization days,and hospitalization expenses) were recorded and compared with t test.Group B was divided into survived-subgroup (n =62) and death-subgroup (n =29).The differences in CURB-65 score and modified CURB-65 scere between the two groups were compared with t test.The correlation of CURB-65 score and modified CURB-65 score with procalcitonin,pneumonia severity index,hospitalization days,and hospitalization expenses were determined with Pearson rank correlation method.Results The procalcitonin,pneumonia severity index,hospitalization days,hospitalization expenses,modified CURB-65 score and CURB-65 score in Group B were significantly higher than those in Group A [(3.70 ± 0.83) vs.(1.27±0.24),t=28.91,P＜0.01; (121.33±16.74) vs.(73.79±9.21),t=25.23,P＜0.01;(25.79±10.13) vs.(14.85 ±6.83),t=9.02,P＜0.01; (22.71 ±3.84) vs.(9.83 ±1.24),t=32.76,P＜0.01; (3.69±1.03) vs.(3.32±1.06),t=2.48,P＜0.05; (4.21±1.13) vs.(3.41±0.96),t =5.39,P＜0.01],while no significant difference was observed in the white blood cell count between GroupA and B (17.58 ±5.99 vs.16.86±4.41,t =0.97,P＞0.05).For Group B,the modified CURB-65 score of death-subgroup was significantly higher than that of survived-subgroup [(4.75± ± 1.17) vs.(4.01 ± 1.09),t =2.95,P ＜ 0.01],whilc no significant difference was observed in the CURB-65 score between the death-subgroup and survived-subgroup (4.01 ± 1.15 vs.3.58 ±0.97,t =1.86,P ＞ 0.05).The CURB-65 score positive correlated with the procalcitonin (r =-0.803,P =0.025),and had no obvious correlation with the pneumonia severity index,hospitalization days,and hospitalization expenses (r=0.621,P=0.320; r=0.701,P=0.231; r=0.675,P=0.256); The modified CURB-65 score significantly positively correlated with the procalcitonin,pneumonia severity index,hospitalization days,and hospitalization expenses (r =0.951,P =0.003 ; r =0.965,P =0.002 ; r =0.947,P =0.004 ; r =0.961,P =0.002).Conclusions Compared with the CURB-65 score,the modified CURB-65 score is more efficient in evaluating the severity and prognoses of CAP for emergency patients.
