1.Using peniostium in modified dacryocystorhinosomy operation
Journal of Medical Research 1998;6(2):11-14
145 nasolacrimal obstruction patients (150 eyes) were treated with the modified dacryocystorhinostomy operation (using periostium). Group I: 45 cases with torn nasal-membrane. Group II: 145 cases with intact nasal-membrane. The general results are the same in both groups but the functional result of group II is much higher than that of group I. Thank to using periostium in operation, the treatment result is much increased. Six months after operation, the treatment result is stable. The technique is quite simple

2.Efficacy of Cham Tia leaf infusion in the treatment of patients with acute viral hepatitis
Journal of Medical Research 2000;12(2):26-33
In this research, 67 patients with acute viral hepatitis are divided in two groups: one group of 33 patients used Chµm TÝa infusion, the other of 34 patients didn't use it. We studied both their clinical and paraclinical changes and made the comparisons. The results are shown as follows: Good effect has been demonstrated in the group of moderately severe patients with typical acute viral hepatitis at dose of 90g of fresh leaves. Chµm tÝa has decreased more rapidly these symptoms: tiredness, poor appetite, dyspepsia, jaundice. These improvements are significant with p< 0.05. Chµm TÝa has normalized the total bilirubinemia, ASAT, ALAT, more rapidly in comparison with the control group and it has shortened significantly the treatment course (p<0.05).

3.Problem on dental caries of children from 7 to 11 years of age at Trang An primary school
Journal of Medical Research 2002;18(2):85-14
Investigation of 819 school children from 7 to 11 years of age at TrangAn primary school was carried out by using standard form and the method of examination and evaluation from WHO. Result showed that dental caries rate is rather high (72%). There was a difference of prevalence between age groups, highest at group 9 years of age (78%), lowest at group 11 years of age (65%). The initial dental caries and common dental caries needed treatment, were quite high. 1894 teeth with 3.08 decay per child, the number of filled teeth were low, 0.23/child. This result showed that taking care the children tooth has not been paid attention by their parent

4.Circulating P53 and CEA in rectal polyp patients, confront with pathanatomical changes
Journal of Medical Research 2002;18(2):33-38
The 32 patients who suffered from rectal polyps and 49 healthy adults were quantified the circulate protein P53 and CEA which showed that the circular protein P53 increased in the elderly healthy persons compared with younger persons. In rectal polyp’s patients, the circular P53 noticeable changes than control group. The concentration of the P53 protein is more related to the polyp diameter. The concentration of the circular CEA related less to the age, the lesion of the polyp and to the early rectal cancer.

5.Nutritional therapy in chronic renal failure
Journal of Medical Research 1998;7(3):47-49
The selective low protein dietary in treatment of chronic renal failure aims at objectives in cluding reduction of symptom of hyperuremia and protection of function of rest normal kidney. However, the limitation of daily protein need will lead to lack of essential aminoacide. Use of ketoacid corresponding with aminoacid reduces the nitrogen supply, prevents the bad progress of chronic renal failure and limits the excessive filtration of glomerular, hyperphosphatemia and secondary increased para- thyroid function.

6.The fourth bronchial pouch fistula and analysis of 20 cases
Journal of Medical Research 2000;13(3):3-8
The fourth bronchial pouch fistulae is the lesion of the fourth bronchial-pharyngeal duct in development of the embryo. 20 cases of this disease were diagnosed, operated and followed-up in the institute of ENT, from 1995 to 1997. 11 females and 9 males were affected; It manifested itself by recurrent episodes neck abscess, especially on the left side (95%). 13 fistulous tracts were found on operation with 86% of retrocartilaginous course.

7.The role of transbronchial fine needle aspiration in the diagnosis of submucosal bronchogenic carcinoma
Journal of Medical Research 2002;18(2):7-12
Transbronchial needle aspiration in the diagnosis of submucosal bronchogenic carcinoma. Although exophytic endobronchial lesions can readily be diagnosed by forceps biopsy through the rigid bronchoscope. The lesion of submucosal or peribronchial by forceps biopsy difficult to diagnose by biopsy. The utility of transbronchial fine needle aspiration through rigid bronchoscope was made in 98 patients presenting with endoscopic abnormalities suggestive of submucosal bronchigenic carcinoma of respiratory department of Bachmai hospital from 3/1991 to 7/1996. Forceps biopsy was positive in 48 patients (58.77%). Transbronchial needle aspiration was positive in 88 patients (88.79%) and detected 6 cases additional carcinomas (who were treated by anti-tuberculosis of the lung). We concluded that TBNA significantly increases the yield, more effective than forceps biopsy alone in the detection of the infiltration of submucosal bronchogenic carcinoma.

8.Immunohistochemical study of primary extranodal malignant non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Journal of Medical Research 2000;13(3):20-23
Between 1996 and 1998, 31 cases of primary extranodal malignant non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were studied immunohistochemically. Immunohistochemical study showed that the majority of the cases were of B-cell type: 19 cases (73.07%) and only 3 cases (11.53%) were of the T-cell type. According to the Working Formulation system, the most common histologic type was diffuse, large cell type (61.29%). The histologic grade was moderate grade: 23 cases (74.19%), high grades: 5 cases (16.13%).

Journal of Medical Research 2007;47(1):13-19
Background: Peripheral blood stem cells are today the mains source of cells for transplantation. The number of CD34 in peripheral blood of adult healthy volunteers is very low, so we have to mobilize. Objectives: To apply a protocol to collect CD4 cells in peripheral blood of normal donors mobilized by using G-CSF. Subjects and method: G-CSF (Leukokin) at a dose 10 mcg/kg/day was injected subcutaneously in 5 consecutive days for mobilization CD34 from 5 healthy donors. Count the number of CD34 everyday and collect CD34 cells in 5th \ufffd?6th day by automated blood cell separator (COBE-Spectra), observed clinical and hematilogy, biochemistry symtoms spontaneously. Results: The number of CD34 harvested is 215,5 \ufffd?570,2 x 106 CD34/donor. Almost other of parameters of hematology and biochemistry of donors were normal after one week from the last separation. Conclusion: Mobilization with G-CSF and aphaeresis of periphral blood stem cell from normal donors is feasibility and safety. The number of CD34 can be to allograft for an adult patient.

Journal of Medical Research 2007;47(1):28-32
Background: Vietnam is located in the endemic region of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, but no data of occult HBV infection was reported at present. Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of occult HBV infection in different ethnics of people and generations. Subjects and method: 80 voluteers with HbsAg negative from five different ethnics: Kinh, Tay, Mong, Giay and Dao in a Chino \ufffd?Vietnamses border province (Lao Cai) were enrolled in the study. After HBV-DNA was extracted, nested PCR of S gene and of Core-promoter/Pre-core region were used to detect HBV-DNA. Specifying nucleotide sequence was confirmed by direct sequencing. Results:The prevalence of occult HBV infection in population study was very high 73/80 (91,3%) by nested PCR of Core-promoter/Pre-core, significantly more sensitive than nested PCR of S gene (26,3%) (p<0,0001). The prevalence of occult HBV infection was notdifferent between ethnics of people or between children, adults. Conclusion: Occult HBV infection in Vietnamese is very common; however, nationwide further studies should be carried out to confirm this preliminary results and evaluate the impact of occult HBV infection in Vietnam.
