Following are the speeches on 4 topics at the Chinese and American Medical Library Symposium held at Fudan University:new trends of medical library development;roles of medical library in research,management and decision-making;transformation and development of medical library;role of medical library in medical education. The management systems and development prospects of medical library were fully discussed among the attendances at the symposium.

The functions of academic medical libraries in teaching, scientific research, clinical service and management were elaborated in detail according to the《Library regulations in general colleges and universities》issued by Ministry of Education and the requirements of state on medical education with the practical experiences of academic medical libraries summarized in knowledge management, scientific communication, subject evaluation and with the ideas proposed for the development of academic medical libraries.

After the advantages and processes of medical library in development of think tank were described with the practice of Capital Medical University Library as an example,the role of academic medical libraries in providing reference for decision-making for subject construction in colleges and universities was studied on the basis of subject bibliometric evaluation and keeping abreast of subject frontiers in their think tank development-oriented subject service.

The position of roles and requirements of professional competency in foreign medical librarians were ana-lyzed in order to provide the experiences of foreign medical librarians for the professional development of domestic medical librarians,which showed that medical librarians play their roles in health information service,health literacy education,scientific research,teaching,clinical decision-making support and public health service, and that their role and competency have been recognized by medical experts and health information users. Medical librarians should not only possess the competency of communication,systematic review,resource evaluation,organization and manage-ment and health management but also the proficiency in teaching and the ability to promote the development of health information industry,which will thus help them to become a health informationist or a clinical information expert.

Evaluation of paper academic influence is an important component part for the scientific and technological evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine,and plays an important role in promoting the scientific and technological innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine. The Traditional Chinese Medicine-Paper Influence Evaluation System (TCM-PIES), which was thus designed according to the existing problems in scientific and technological evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine and in evaluation of papers on traditional Chinese medicine,and the characteristics of academic papers on traditional Chinese medicine by analyzing their data with information technology as its support, is applied in selection of excellent institutions and professional academic interests.

An information system for "Internet+" hierarchical diagnosis and treatment was constructed with pa-tients as its center,with clinical information system as its basis,and with solution of difficulties in implementation of "Internet+" hierarchical diagnosis and treatment as its guidance. Its three key modules, namely online service module,data center module and off-line management module,were designed and analyzed,which helps the preci-sion match of resources and demands for the"Internet+" hierarchical diagnosis and treatment,promotes the vertical flow of good medical resources and improves the grass-root service level and efficiency.

Scientific researchers can access,manage,read,analyze and cite literature with the help of literature management software which is developing from a single individual management tool to the networked, intelligent, sharable and collaborative open scientific research social networks with the rapid development of Internet and social network. The characteristics of scientific research social networks were thus analyzed with the trends and sustain-ability of literature management software to the expanded open scientific research social networks discussed from the basic functions of literature management software in combination with literature investigation.

A framework for assessing the impact of health information service in library was established according to the Methods and procedures for assessing the impact of library issued by the International Standardization Organiza-tion in 2014 by summarizing the health information service practices in foreign and domestic libraries. The indica-tions for assessing the impact of health information service in library were worked out for individuals, organizations/communities, and society with related assessment procedures summarized in order to provide reference for the health information service and its impact assessment in library.

Ontology construction is a new method for knowledge organization in the background of semantics. The basic method and procedure for ontology construction for channel and acupuncture point therapy were described, the role of ontology in semantic relationship and added knowledge organization value was assayed according to the retrieval, rationalization and visualization demonstration by making use of the ontology construction software, which showed that the method for ontology construction is characterized by its wide application range, deep application level, semantic enrichment and strong relevance. It is convenient for knowledge reorganization and can thus provide a new angle for scientific research and create a new value.

The current sharing of medical data and its restrictive factors were surveyed by literature and question-naire investigation and analyzed with statistical analysis tools such as SPSS and Excel, which showed the influence of different restrictive factors on different populations. Certain measures were put forward for speeding up the sha-ring of scientific data, improving the medical treatment and academic level, strengthening the competitive power of hospitals and higher education institutions in Hunan Province.
