The Official Launching Ceremony of the New WPRIM Platform will be Held in May 2010 in Beijing, China

The new WPRIM platform, which is developed by the Institute of Medical Information Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMICAMS), was started in December 2008. According to the arrangement of WHO Regional Office, and also proposed during the second joint meeting of APAME and WPRIM in Singapore, the launching ceremony of the new WPRIM platform will be held in May 2010 in Beijing, China. There will also be an international workshop on the new WPRIM database before launching.

The schedule will be like below

A. 6 May 2010 - Workshop on the new WPRIM database

·Programme for the training/workshop would be drawn by IMI. Content (AM) and Technical concerns (PM).

·WPRIM Chairs of the National Journal Selection Committees(NJSCs)will support the participation of their IT in this one-day workshop.

B. 7 May 2010 - Launching of the WPRIM database

·The programme would be started in late morning (around 10 AM) and have the launching ceremony until 12 noon. Key people, such as director of IMICAMS, president of CAMS, WHO key officials, director of KMS/WHO and WPRIM country representatives will be invited.

·In the afternoon (after lunch), there could be a presentation of the WPRIM platform. And a small group discussion on preparations for the next joint meeting of APAME and WPRIM might be done after the general presentation of the platform.

The IMICAMS has set up a team (including two groups) to prepare for the launching ceremony. The first group is for the technical issue of the platform (updating functions, collecting date, organizing international test, etc.). The second group is for the meeting (booking hotel and venue, preparing documents and materials, contacting with the representatives, arranging programs, etc.).

An international volunteer team is testing and evaluating the beta version of the new WPRIM platform. The team is composed of the following:

The team's evaluation report will be submitted to IMICAMS and the WHO Regional Office before the database is formally launched in May 2010. The recommendations may help to improve the capability of the database.
