Abstract:
Objective To explore behavior changes and the influence factors in caregivers since their family member was diagnosed with ovarian cancer .Methods Caregivers of ninety women with ovarian cancer were investigated with the self-designed questionnaire , Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale ( HADS) and life style questionnaire.Results About 33.3% of caregivers gained weight, 44.4% spent less time exercising, 12.2%consumed more alcohol 3.3%reduced frequency of physical examination per year .Caregivers were more likely to report negative changes if they were clinically distressed or caring for a woman whose disease impacted on her usual daily activities (P<0.01).Conclusions Half caregivers reported more than one negative changes after becoming a caregiver .More attention should be given to caregivers with high physical and emotional demands .
